Google has acquired the social statistics start tool Twitter SocialGrapple, a move that suggests that the search engine titan aims to boost the tracking ability of Google Analytics.
The exact terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Google launched Google + a few months ago, and although the new social network has attracted a good number of headlines, it still has a long way to go to reach Facebook and Twitter. One way in which the company will help Google + grow is by deepening its set of features and knowledge of third-party applications. Adding a premium analysis service that companies and brands can use to control and monitor accounts would undoubtedly be a step in the right direction.
SocialGrapple was founded a year ago by Y-Combinator-bred Andrey Petrov, with the goal of giving Twitter users interactive graphics, and a better representation of Twitter statistics data. The service allows you to compare the different types of followers and see changes in their number of followers, among other analyzes.
On the acquisition of SocialGrape Petrov has indicated on the website of the company:
“SocialGrapple started a year ago, and was launched only a couple of months later as a social graphics analysis service. It was an incredible learning experience and I am very grateful to all the users who supported this initiative. A lot of what was built during those months came directly from their needs and requests, so I feel as if we were all on this trip together. ”
From the first release, he also explored keyword tracking and spread to other social networks, but this was only scratching the surface. I really want to take these ideas to a higher level and reveal the metrics on a much larger scale.
Thanks again for being part of my trip. I strive to continue building tools that make the world more transparent and powerful, and I can not imagine a better partner than Google. “
