Here are 5 simple steps to build a business plan:
- Start with your vision: Start your planning from the end. You must be able to communicate out there what you’re aiming for with your business in order to set the right tone of your plan. Are you willing to grow a business and then sell? Can you think of a business that create hard for your life and become your inheritance legacy? What is the grand vision, what your ultimate goal? It is important to begin with the end in mind very clear. Your vision must be able to summarize all this.
- Formalize your mission: Now that you know what your vision have to describe what you are going to do for it to be realized in a concise and understandable. The Mission is that statement that you would hang it somewhere so that you (and your staff, in case you have) you can see it remind you why you are doing what you are doing, day after day.
- Make a list of your goals: Think of your goals as a bulleted list of final results that you planned to get. For example, “dominate at least 10% of my niche market by 2016,” or resource objectives as “hire a graphic designer full time by the end of the year.” These should be the main objectives to be achieved, and they must have a time frame attached.
- Define your strategies: Your strategies describe your plan for achieving the objectives. What is your marketing plan? What is the sales strategy? That chunk of your time you will dedicate to research and development? What are the global strategies that intend to follow to achieve your goals?
- Create an action plan: You have your goal; you know the strategy to be adopted. What measures do you plan to be implemented to make sure that your business has the momentum needed to reach your goals and allow the manifestation of your vision? These actions should be short-term and daily tasks – things you can start doing right now to achieve the ultimate goal.
