According to research developed by the consultancy BIA / Kelsey, online advertising made by local companies, will represent at least a quarter of the cost of all local ads for 2015.
According to the report, spending on local online advertising of small and medium enterprises, represent 23.6% of all local advertising expenses for 2015, from 21.7 billion dollars last year, to 42.5 billion for 2015.
The economic crisis has tempered the predictions of the company, because before they were higher, but for this year only in local search and online classified ads expenses are expected revenues of 31.1 billion dollars.
The maturity of online sales products is due, in part, to the increased use of smartphones and tablets, in addition to the gradual interruption of investment in advertising in traditional media.
The report also reveals that 14.1% of online advertising spending comes from SMEs, and it is expected that this year a total of 16.2% will be reached.
The report compiled data from various sources, and indicated that local advertising revenues will increase from 136.3 billion dollars in 2010 to 153.5 billion dollars in 2015. However, the projected revenues for that year continue to be lower than the total of the year 2008, when without anyone could foresee it, they entered 156.3 billion dollars.
Because companies like Yahoo! and Gannett explore daily local deals, BIA / Kelsey estimates that 3.9 billion dollars will go into consumer spending, just for that space.
Another recent report of local online spending, launched by Borrell Associates, found that spending on social media marketing by SMEs will grow more than 30% this year.
